The King

2009 is the tenth anniversary of King Abdullah's accession to the throne of Jordan. This ground-breaking series follows a year in the king's life and is being made with his close collaboration. For the first time, cameras are allowed access to the king's daily life and behind the scenes at court. We're filming everything from closed cabinet sessions to the state opening of parliament, from the king training with his troops to swimming alongside dolphins with his children.

This series also offers valuable understanding of a country at the crossroads of the region, grappling with the problems of change. To get such access to a monarch is remarkable enough; to achieve it in the Middle East is unprecedented.
