Tortured Truth
(22 mins, Al Jazeera English, 2008)

Philippe Spinau runs a very special house in Paris: la Maison des Journalistes. An old brush factory in the rue Cauchy, it's home to fifteen persecuted journalists from all over the world. They're men and women who've dared to speak the truth about their own regimes and were punished for it with torture, rape, beatings, imprisonment, death threats - worse horrors than most of us can imagine.
They've witnessed the killing of colleagues, and some have seen their families murdered. They know they have somehow to keep writing and reporting the horrors they see. They also know that the power of their words is seen by some as a very serious threat.
This is the story of one man and his mission to support freedom of speech.
